Jane Austen uses humour and irony in her novels in a way that the two are found simultaneously in situations throughout Pride and Prejudice. Humour, by definition given by M. Irony, on the other hand, is a much broader term than humour, in that there is more than one kind. Verbal irony is a form where the character says something that is contrasted with the actual happenings not, of course, to be confused with sarcasm.
